What is auricular acupuncture?
The NADA auricular (ear) acupuncture protocol is a non-invasive treatment that involves the gentle insertion of five needles into specific points in the ear to stimulate the nervous system. This treatment has been found to be particularly effective in treating addiction, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as sleep, digestion, stress, pain, and mood. CVCA is a volunteer organization of local acupuncturists who believe in the importance of making this simple and highly effective treatment available to everyone in our community.
What to expect
You'll be seated in a room with other people all receiving the same treatment. Needles will be inserted in your ears and you will relax for about an hour, while listening to soothing music. If you can't stay for the full hour, you can just let the practitioners know.
Does it hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, sterile, filament needles. They're .16 mm thick, not much thicker than a human hair. Often people feel almost nothing, though sometimes the points can be a little tender. If there is discomfort that doesn't immediately go away, the acupuncturist will simply remove that needle.
Location and Time
We are now in our new home in the Health Department Building at 1138 Rose Hill Drive. Drive around to the back and come to door 3. Treatments start at 5:30 and we end at 6:30 (though of course you can leave early).
There are chairs to sit in, but you may also feel free to bring a yoga mat or whatever is comfortable
for you to lie on the floor.
